Install the Mac app
Download Kioku and sign in with Apple or Google. It lives in your menu bar and then gets out of the way. macOS 14 or later, signed and notarized by Apple, and it updates itself.

Start capture and let it run
Start capture from the menu bar once and get on with your day. What comes back is memories: transcripts with who said what, the people you talk to, the action items you agreed to, and a recap of what actually happened.
Pure Swift capture clients package bounded audio and timestamps. The Mac adds screenshots and available browser context; the iPhone records microphone audio only. Understanding — transcription, diarization, OCR, and Mac screenshot understanding — runs on Vertex Gemini in Kioku’s attested cloud service, not on your Mac.

Add Kioku as an MCP connector and approve read-only access. Then ask your assistant something only you would know: “What did I work on this morning?”

Your day is private property. Queryable memories live in private, encrypted Cloud SQL and large raw media is separately encrypted per user before GCS storage. Public TLS and application processing run in an open-source, hardware-attested Google Cloud enclave fleet. Cloud SQL and authorized administrators are part of the structured-data trust boundary. Raw audio and screenshots are scheduled for deletion after 30 days. Kioku does not sell your personal information, use your private archive for advertising, or train a Kioku model on your archive.

Do I need ChatGPT or Claude to use this?
No. The dashboard at kiokuu.com/app is a full memory browser on its own — memories, the people Kioku has learned, and a live feed of what’s been captured. But the connector is what Kioku is built around — asking your assistant about your own week, inside the tool you already work in.
Is it recording all the time?
Only while you have capture on. You start and stop it from the menu bar, and macOS shows its own recording indicator whenever a microphone is live.
Does it run on my Mac or in the cloud?
Both, and we’re specific about it because a lot of products aren’t. The Mac app captures and uploads. Transcription, diarization, OCR and screen understanding run on Vertex Gemini in Kioku’s cloud. If you need everything to stay on your own machine, Kioku isn’t the right tool for you today. Full detail on the security page.
Do the people I talk to know?
Only if you tell them. Kioku doesn’t join calls and doesn’t announce itself, which means that responsibility is yours, not ours. Recording rules vary by state and country, and several places require everyone’s consent. Saying “heads up, I keep a transcript” takes four seconds and is the difference between a tool and a problem.
What can ChatGPT or Claude actually see?
Only what it asks for, and only to read. It can search your archive; it cannot start or stop capture, edit anything, delete anything, or send email. Kioku also refuses assistant searches aimed at sensitive categories — payment-card data, health information, government identifiers, passwords, API keys, tokens and authentication codes — and redacts incidental matches before anything leaves. Do you train AI on my recordings?
No. Kioku does not sell your personal information, use your private archive for advertising, or train a Kioku model on your archive.
What happens if I run out of hours?
Your weekly allowance stops new cloud capture until it resets. There are no overage charges and no surprise bills, and you can change plans at any time from Settings.
What happens to my archive if I downgrade or stop paying?
It stays. Your weekly recording allowance returns to the free tier, but Kioku doesn’t delete your archive for going quiet. It’s there until you delete your account, and you can export it from Settings whenever you like.
Who else is using this?
Not many people yet, and we’re not going to paste a row of logos we haven’t earned. Kioku is early. That’s why the free plan exists with no card attached — one week of your own real days is a better argument than any testimonial we could put here.
Is there an iPhone app?
Kioku for iPhone records microphone audio only and is in limited private testing. It is not on the App Store, so there is nothing to install there today — Mac is where Kioku is real. When iPhone opens up it will connect to this same archive.
